| As at July 2002, the disposal of “End of Life” lamps to landfill came within the scope of the Special Waste Regulations and may now only go to designated hazardous waste landfill sites. The number of sites meeting the new waste acceptance criteria, currently some 250, will soon be reduced to only 10, as a result the price of disposal by landfill is likely to increase substantially. “ The safe recycling of tubes and lamps that contain mercury, sodium and other such hazardous materials is therefore the only viable option” As the most innovative company in the linear fluorescent tube, lamp and battery recycling industry, it is important for Envirolite to continually strive to develop new effective solutions to satisfy our customer’s recycling requirements. Our comprehensive recycling services are available throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, ranging from the provision of suitable storage containers combined with a dedicated local collection service, or where required, we can supply low cost portable crushing equipment to effect on-site lamp volume reduction, thereby greatly reducing labour, handling and on-site storage requirements. Individual solutions can also be provided locally via our nationwide network of “Accredited Service Providers” to help make your recycling / disposal process simple to operate at highly competitive prices, all conducted within a legal framework that ensures “full compliance” with both current and future legislation concerning the control and management of this hazardous waste. As you will soon see, Envirolite will offer you the most creative and practical methods available to enable you to properly manage your ‘End of Life’ products. |
